Bodelwyddan Castle is the only property in North Wales to have its own in-house paranormal investigation team.  All team members have a good understanding of the buildings, its history and past paranormal activity, ensuring they are able to help you distinguish the normal from the paranormal.  

Paranormal Investigations take place inside the sumptuous Victorian period rooms of this historic building. Many paranormal occurrences have taken place here over the years and the house has a long and mysterious history. 

The aims of the events are to provide participants with an introduction to paranormal investigations. The investigations are taken from a scientific viewpoint and aim to be objective in their approach.

Scientific instruments and Divination techniques are used throughout the evening to measure paranormal activity. Vigils are an important part of the event, which entail participants sitting in the darkened rooms in an attempt to capture any paranormal evidence, with the equipment provided.

Typical equipment used on the Bodelwyddan Castle Paranormal Investigation:

• Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Detectors – EMF meters measure changes in the electromagnetic field, associated with paranormal activity.

• Digital Thermometers

• Dowsing rods

• Crystal pendulums

• Digital Cameras – we have our own digital camera, but participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras in an attempt to photograph any paranormal occurrences whilst on vigils. We have a laptop and digital projector in the base room, where we can project your images onto a large screen – our card-reader accepts most types of digital camera memory card. 

Many people like to take pictures on an investigation for a record of the night’s events and also to see if they can capture any ‘orbs’.

On a Bodelwyddan Castle Ghost Walk, you will learn more about the history of the house, its inhabitants as well as hearing ghost stories and personal accounts of paranormal experiences at the Castle.  You will also be given the opportunity to take part in a short vigil at the end of the tour.  Ghost Walks are a great way to gain an introduction to the work of the paranormal team before booking a place on a full over night investigation.
